About the Family Centre
St. Christopher’s Church has been established in Holme Wood for more than 50 years and has run activities for people of all ages for over 20 years. The family and youth work used to be separate projects with the Youth Project running clubs for school children and the Family Project supporting families with young children under the age of 5 alongside Good Neighbours which runs a day care centre for older people, a community café and a low-cost furniture and community store.
In January 2017, the Youth and the Family Project merged to become St. Christopher’s Family Centre in order to support and cater for families, children, youth and young adults on the estate.
Holme Wood is a deprived social housing estate in Bradford South. We are ranked 40th in the Index of Multiple Deprivation, meaning there are only 39 areas more deprived in the whole of the UK than Holme Wood. We work to meet the needs of those experiencing poverty and other factors associated with deprivation. We work with people where they are at and seek to be welcoming to all those who need us.
Vision & Values
We want to give children the best possible start in life, supporting their parents on their journey and creating a safe place for young people.
We aim to meet people’s needs, whatever they might be.
